This article discusses a poem by W.S. Rendra “ Rangkasbitung”. This poem depicts the cruelty of thecolonial regime on the revitalization of the Dutch colonial era. An examination of the history of thenation is indicated by Multatuli (a pseudonym) Max Havellar author. Through the book looks a concernfor the nation of Indonesia. He stated that the occupation can be devastating to people, especiallyyoung people. Ironically at the time of independence there are still many irregularities and policies infavor of the rulers, corrupt state officials in the increasingly rampant, land evictions common people, sothat people's suffering never stops. The poem is a social protest to the authorities to be more concernedwith the lives of ordinary people.
