UPAYA MENDORONG KEMAMPUAN BERFIKIR KREATIF MAHASISWA DALAM INOVASI KONSERVASI PANGAN

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze efforts to encourage creative thinking skills of science education students on the problem of food security in Indonesia. This was due to the abundance of basic foodstuff in Indonesia. However, there were still problems in innovative processing and interesting packaging of the foods. Therefore, to foster the creative thinking skills among the college students, the implementation of project-based learning on the concept of conventional biotechnology was designed in biotechnology class learning. The goal was to nurture students’ creative thinking skills on the conventional concept of biotechnology in order to produce innovative conservation-based food products. The research design used in this study is One-Shot Case Study. It was implemented by providing treatment for students of Science Education Year 2013/2014 who were involved in Project Based Learning in the biotechnology course learning. Next, the students’ creative thinking skills were observed. The results showed that the implementation of project-based learning improve the students’ creative thinking skills that the students were able to create innovations on conservation-based food products using conventional Biotechnology principles.Keywords: creative thinking, project-based learning, food conservation, conventional biotechnology Tulisan ini bertujuan menganalisis upaya mendorong kemampuan berpikir kreatif pada mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan IPA terhadap masalah ketahanan pangan di Indonesia. hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh melimpahnya bahan pangan asli Indonesia namun masih memiliki permasalahan dalam pengolahan dan pengemasan yang inovatif dan menarik. Oleh karena itu, untuk mendorong kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa pada kuliah Bioteknologi, maka dirancang suatu pembelajaran melalui penerapan  model pembelajaran project based learning pada konsep Bioteknologi konvensional. Hal ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mendorong kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa dalam konsep Bioteknologi konvensional dalam upaya menghasilkan produk inovasi berbasis konservasi pangan. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain eksperimen One-Shot Case Study. Pelaksanaanya dengan cara memberikan perlakuan dalam pembelajaran matakuliah Bioteknologi pada mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan IPA tahun pembelajaran 2013/2014 yang semester genap mengambil mata kuliah Bioteknologi berupa  pembelajaran menggunakan Project Based Learning. Selanjutnya diobservasi hasilnya berupa kemampuan berpikir kreatif  mahasiswa dalam berinovasi menghasilkan produk berbasis konservasi pangan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa melalui  penerapan model pembelajaran project based learning, mampu mendorong kemampuan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa dalam membuat produk inovasi konservasi pangan menggunakan dasar Bioteknologi konvensional.Kata kunci: berpikir kreatif, project based learning, konservasi pangan, bioteknologi konvensional
