<![CDATA[This study is categorized as a classroom action research (CAR). This study proposed mind mapping strategy in the teaching and learning English at the eleventh grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Kediri to solve the students’ incompetency on reading achievement. As the result of the preliminary study indicated that the students’ problem toward their reading competence is the average reading score is lower than the minimum standard of learning (KKM). Beside that, the teachers always present reading activity by asking the students to read text and to answer the exercises without giving a technique how to understand the text easily. Most of the students became passive because of the students' lack of vocabulary. In the text, there are many words that the students do not know those meaning and as such they cannot catch the information of the text.Therefore, the criteria of success was directed to the mentioned problem. The results showed that the instruction through mind mapping strategy in the Cycle I and Cycle II, the students’ reading achievement improved and the teaching and learning process was interesting for the students.]]>
