Assertiveness is the ability to communicate what is wanted, felt, and thought to others but while maintaining and respecting the rights and feelings of others. Currently, not all nurses apply assertive behavior in providing nursing services. Job stress is also an important determinant of depression, the fourth leading cause of illness worldwide. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between assertive behavior and nurses' work stress levels and the type of research was quantitative research using the Cross Sectional Sutdy approach. Data were collected through questionnaires. Analysis test used a computer program, namely SPSS 20 to assess frequency statistical data and Chi – Square Test on Fisher's Exact Test on bivariate variables obtained Exact Sig (2-sided) value, on assertive behavior variable that was obtained value (p) = 0.001 means < = 0.05 and the nurse's work stress variable is obtained a value of (p) = 0.001 means < = 0.05 so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between assertive behavior and nurses' work stress levels. The sample in this study were nurses with a total sampling method of 35 people. On May 31 – June 19, 2019 at the Lamaddukelleng Sengkang Hospital, Wajo Regency. The results showed that there was a relationship between assertive behavior and the level of work stress of nurses with p value = 0.001 < = 0.05. It is hoped that health workers, especially nurses, will always improve assertive behavior in order to reduce work stress levels. Abstrak Asertifitas adalah suatu kemampuan untuk mengkomunikasikan apa yang diinginkan, dirasakan, dan dipikirkan kepada orang lain namun dengan tetap menjaga dan menghargai hak-hak serta perasaan pihak lain.. Saat ini belum semua perawat menerapkan perilaku asertif dalam memberikan pelayanan keperawatan. Stres kerja juga merupakan penentu penting timbulnya depresi, penyebab keempat terbesar timbulnya penyakit di seluruh dunia. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan perilaku asertif dengan tingkat stres kerja perawat dan jenis penelitian yaitu penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode pendekatan Cross Sectional Sutdy. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner Uji analisis menggunakan program komputer yaitu SPSS 20 untuk menilai data statistik frekuensi dan Uji Chi – Square pada Fisher’s Exact Test pada variabel bivariat diperoleh nilai Exact Sig (2-sided), pada variabel perilaku asertif yaitu di peroleh nilai (p) = 0,001 berarti < α = 0,05 dan pada variabel stres kerja perawat yaitu di peroleh nilai (p) = 0,001 berarti < α = 0,05 sehingga disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan perilaku asertif dengan tingkat stres kerja perawat. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah perawat dengan metode penarikan sampel secara Total Sampling sebanyak 35 orang. Pada tanggal 31 Mei – 19 Juni 2019 bertempat di RSUD Lamaddukelleng Sengkang Kabupaten Wajo. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa ada hubungan perilaku asertif dengan tingkat stres kerja perawat dengan nilai p value = 0.001 < α = 0.05. Diharapkan bagi tenaga kesehatan khususnya perawat untuk senantiasa meningkatkan perilaku asertif agar dapat mengurangi tingkat stres kerja.
