Jati (Tectona grandhis L.) merupakan salah satu jenis yang bernilai jual tinggi karena kualitas kayunya yang kuat dan awet. Tanaman jati banyak dikembangkan di Sulawesi, bahkan di beberapa daerah yang bertanah masam. Indonesia memiliki tanah masam dalam luasan yang cukup besar dan perlu dimanfaatkan tanaman kehutanan agar lebih produktif, dapat memperbaiki kesuburan kimia tanah dan karakteristik tapak. Penanaman pada tanah masam pada umumnya mempunyai kendala pada pH yang rendah dan toleransi tanaman terhadap pH rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui variasi pertumbuhan tinggi dan diameter klon tanaman jati pada tanah masam. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Acak Lengkap Berblok, dengan 25 klon dan 4 treeplot dengan jumlah blok 3. Penelitian dilaksanakan di KHDTK Malili, Kabupaten Luwu Timur Sulawesi Selatan. Lokasi ini terletak pada ketinggian 100 m dpl, rerata curah hujan tahunan 3.497 mm dengan temperatur 26 °C - 32 °C dan kelembaban relatif 64 % - 92 %. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan pertumbuhan tinggi dan diameter antar klon tanaman jati pada umur 11 bulan setelah tanam. Pertumbuhan tertinggi dicapai klon No. 009 (187,72 cm) dan pertumbuhan diameter terbesar pada klon No. 13 (36,92 mm) keduanya berasal dari Pulau Muna. Tanaman jati hasil penelitian sampai dengan umur 11 bulan pada tanah masam di KHDTK Malili menunjukkan hasil pertumbuhan yang cukup baik.Teak (Tectona grandis L.) is one of hardwood tree that has high economic value due to strong and durable wood. Teak has been planted widely in Sulawesi, even on several acid soil. Indonesia has wide enough acid soil area. It is necessary to plant it with tress in order to make it more productive, fix the soil chemical fertility and also fix site characteristic. Plantation on the acid soil area commonly has constraint in low pH and the lower tolerance of the plants. The objectives of this research were to determine variation of height and diameter of growth at 11th months age of some clones of teak. Complete Randomized Block Design was applied in this research with 25 clones, 4 treeplots and 3 blocks. This study was carried out in KHDTK Malili, Luwu Timur Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The research location was about 100 m above sea level, with the rainfall average is 3,497 mm per year, the range temperature is 26 0C – 32 0C and the humidity range is 64 % - 92 %. The research results showed that some clones teak had different significantly on height and diameter growth at 11th months. Highest growth was presented by Clone No. 009 (187.72 cm) and biggest diameter was presented by Clone No. 13 (36.92 mm) both from Muna Island. Results of the teak research at 11th months on acid soils in KHDTK Malili showed favorable growth results.
