<![CDATA[Abstract: Ultrasound therapy (US) is also a non-pharmacological modality that is often used for the treatment of knee pain in patients with knee OA. This literature review aims to summarize the effect of ultrasound therapy (US) on pain reduction in knee OA patients. The writing is done by analyzing related literature obtained from search results on medical journal databases, namely PubMed - MEDLINE, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. Articles included in English and published in 2010-2020. 8 articles were included in this literature review. Ultrasound therapy (US) is one of the most widely used nonpharmacological treatment methods for OA. US demonstrates its biological action via thermal and nonthermal mechanisms. The result of this study is ultrasound therapy (US) can effectively be used as a conservative treatment option for patients with knee OA. However, Further research is needed regarding the factors that influence the effectiveness of ultrasound therapy (US). Keywords: Effect, ultrasound therapy, pain, knee osteoarthritis Abstrak: Terapi ultrasound (US) juga merupakan modalitas non-farmakologis yang sering digunakan untuk pengobatan nyeri lutut pada pasien OA lutut. Penulisan literature review ini bertujuan untuk merangkum pengaruh pemberian terapi ultrasound (US) terrhadap penurunan nyeri pada pasien OA lutut. Penulisan dilakukan dengan menganalisis literatur terkait yang didapatkan dari hasil pencarian pada database jurnal kedokteran, yaitu PubMed – MEDLINE, Science Direct, dan Google Scholar. menggunakan bahasa Inggris dan dipublikasikan pada tahun 2010-2020. Sebanyak 8 artikel disertakan pada literature review ini. Terapi Ultrasound (US) adalah salah satu metode pengobatan nonfarmakologi yang banyak digunakan untuk OA. US menunjukkan aksi biologisnya melalui mekanisme termal dan nonthermal. Hasil penelitian ini, terapi Ultrasound (US) efektif dapat digunakan sebagai pilihan pengobatan konservatif untuk nyeri pada pasien dengan OA lutut. Namun diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keefektivitasan dari terapi ultrasound (US).
