<![CDATA[Elections are part of the democracy of a country that is central in the process of forming a government. The 1997 election was full of fraud aimed at perpetuating the power of the New Order, therefore waves of protests emerged in various regions. The wave of protests arose as a result of a crisis of people's trust in the New Order government which was considered to have made the Golkar Party its political tool. Starting from this, riots in various regions continued during the 1997 General Election.Pemilu merupakan bagian demokrasi sebuah negara yang bersifat sentral dalam sebuah proses pembentukan pemerintahan. Pada pemilu 1997 sarat akan kecurangan yang bertujuan untuk melanggengkan kekuasaan Orde Baru, oleh sebab itu gelombang protes bermunculan diberbagai daerah. Gelombang protes tersebut muncul akibat krisis kepercayaan rakat terhadap pemerintahan Orde Baru yang dianggap menjadikan Partai Golkar sebagai alat politiknya, berawal dari hal tersebut maka kerusuhan diberbagai daerah terus terjadi saat Pemilu 1997 berlangsung. ]]>
