Application of local drug delivery in treatment of chronic periodontitis: A systematic review

Abstract

Objective: To determine which LDD type reduces the depth of pocket Method: A systematic search was performed to find articles published between May 2013 and May 2018, with the keywords ‘Periodontitis’ and ‘Local Drug Delivery’. The initial search obtained 62 articles, after reviewing and selecting the entire article, only 3 articles met the inclusion criteria. Results: The initial search obtained 62 articles, after reviewing and selecting the entire article, only 3 articles met the inclusion criteria using simvastatin gel, satranidazole gel and greentea. Conclusion: The use of local delivery drug with green tea is most effective in reducing pocket depth.
