This study aims to describe critically about University management, higher education quality and good university governance in Mahendradatta University-Bali in order to find answers to the problems concerning: (1) How is the description of Mahendradatta University-Bali? (2) How are the efforts implemented in order to improve the higher education quality? (3) What are the principles of Good University Governance for improving the quality of education? (4) What are the barriers and challenges of Mahendradatta University-Bali in order to improve the quality of education? This research is a field research and using a qualitative approach, with the object of research in Mahendradatta University-Bali. Data collecting in this study was conducted through interview, observation, and documentation studies while the validity test of the data is using triangulation sources. The results showed that the University management, in the control of institution governance, refers to the management functions of planning, organizing, and monitoring as well as the principles of good university governance that include: (1) Transparency; (2) Accountability; (3) Responsibility; (4) Independency; and (5) Justice. In general, the implementation of University management has been accomplished in accordance with the rules set by the University. The successes that have been achieved by Mahendradatta University-Bali in the efforts of developing higher education quality as well as the implementation principles of University management are these following: (1)The implementation of the three duties of higher education; (2) Creating an effective good management; (3) Upgrading the competence of lecturers; (4) Improving the quality of learning; (5) Increasing the academic atmosphere; and (6) Embodiment of academic purposes. There are also sever all factors inhibiting Mahendradatta University-Bali in the implementation. These are internal and external barriers.
