This article focuses its study on the phenomenon of the establisment of schools by the Hadrami community in Indonesia in the period 1905-1942. The descendants of these immigrants in an interval of time established schools for the same pattern, namely the modern Western school model and taught Islamic religious knowledge and general knowledge. This study uses historical research methods, they are heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results of this study indicate that the schools established by the Hadrami community in Indonesia are a tool to strengthen their Hadrami identity. This phenomenon can be proven by the preservation of the culture of kissing hands (muqbil) and the award of the descendants of the Prophet by the sayyid school. Even though, in the beginning the establishment of schools is to provide an education for Hadrami children.
