<![CDATA[The phenomenon of diarrhea must be a concern, especially in children under five, so good handling is needed. This study aimed to determine the effect of giving honey on the defecation pattern of toddlers with diarrhea. The design of this research was pretest-posttest with control group. The research sample was 34 toddlers aged 12-60 months with diarrhea who were treated at the Dayeuhluhur Health Center, Bolang Village, which were further divided into 17 toddlers for the intervention group and 17 toddlers for the control group. The intervention group was given honey. In the phase before and after the intervention, an examination of the pattern of defecation was carried out. Then, a test was performed for differences in defecation patterns between before and after the intervention in the two groups using the Mc Nemar test. The results showed that before the intervention, the pattern of defecation in both groups was not normal (0%). After the intervention, the normal defecation pattern in the control group was 52.94%, while in the intervention group it was higher, namely 58.82%. The results of the Mc Nemar test showed a significant change in defecation patterns in the control group (p = 0.004) and the intervention group (p = 0.002). Based on the results of the study it was concluded that there was an improvement in the pattern of defecation in the group given honey and the control group, but giving honey had a better effect.Keywords: toddler; diarrhea; defecation pattern; honey ABSTRAK Fenomena kejadian diare harus menjadi perhatian, khususnya pada anak balita, sehingga diperlukan penanganan yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian madu terhadap pola defekasi balita dengan diare. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah pretest-posttest with control group. Sampel penelitian adalah 34 balita berusia 12-60 bulan dengan diare yang berobat di Puskesmas Dayeuhluhur, Desa Bolang, yang selanjutnya dibagi menjadi 17 balita untuk kelompok intervensi dan 17 balita untuk kelompok kontrol. Kelompok intervensi diberikan madu. Pada fase sebelum dan sesudah intervensi dilakukan pemeriksaan pola defekasi. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji perbedaan pola defekasi antara sebelum dan sesudah intervensi pada kedua kelompok menggunakan uji Mc Nemar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebelum intervensi, pola defekasi pada kedua kelompok adalah tak ada yang normal (0%). Setelah intervensi, pola defekasi normal pada kelompok kontrol adalah 52,94%, sedangkan pada kelompok intervensi lebih tinggi yaitu 58,82%. Hasil uji Mc Nemar menunjukkan perubahan pola defekasi secara signifikan pada kelompok kontrol (p = 0,004) maupun kelompok intervensi (p = 0,002). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa terjadi perbaikan pola defekasi pada kelompok yang diberikan madu maupun kelompok kontrol, namun pemberian madu memberikan dampak yang lebih baik.Kata kunci: balita; diare; pola defekasi; madu]]>
