<![CDATA[Background: Rectal cancer is one of the malignancies in the colon and rectum that specifically attacks the rectum that occurs due to the onset of the mucosa / epithelium where over time necrose and ulcers arise. Management of rectal cancer consists of surgical management and medical management. Surgery performed on rectum cancer is with low anterior resection (LAR) surgery. Low anterior resection (LAR) is an operation performed to treat rectum cancer. Method: This study is a case study, the sample of this study is patients with rectum cancer postoperative low anterior resection (LAR) at the Central General Hospital Prof. Dr. R.D Kandou Manado. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observations, and review of patient medical records.Result: the client experienced acute pain as the main nursing problem in this case. Furthermore, establish nursing interventions by referring to the Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standards (SIKI), namely: Pain Management 1) Identify the location, characteristics, duration, frequency, quality, and intensity of pain, 2) Identify pain scales, 3) Identify non-verbal pain responses, 4) Identify factors that relieve and aggravate pain, 5) Provide non-pharmacological techniques to reduce pain, 6) Environmental control that aggravates pain, 7) Facilitation of rest and sleep, 8) Explain pain relief strategies, 9) Collaboration ; administration of analgesics if necessary. Conclusion: Breathing relaxation techniques can affect the intensity of pain in postoperative patients because there is a significant difference between before and after breathing relaxation techniques.]]>
