This research is entitled "commissive speech acts in President Anwar Saddat's speech during the 1973 Yom Kippur War". The main problem in this study is to find out what commissive speech acts were expressed by Anwar Saddat in his speech during the 1973 Yom Kippur War where Anwar Saddat allegedly did not fulfill his promise in the future at that time so he was killed. The purpose of this study is to find the function and strategy of commissive speech acts in President Anwar Saddat's speech during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The researcher uses a qualitative descriptive method to describe in detail and in depth through observing data on the object of Egyptian President Anwar Saddat's speech during the 1973 Youm Kippur war. Data collection techniques using the method of free-involved viewing and note-taking methods. The results of this study are commissive speech acts totaling 30 sentences, namely the function of promising 16 sentences, the function of swearing 7 sentences, and the function of offering 7 sentences, while the speech act strategy using direct sentences totals 23 sentences, all of which are contained in sentences with functions of promises and swearing. while the speech act strategy using indirect sentences totaled 7 where all indirect sentences were stated in sentences with the function of offering.
