<![CDATA[This study aims to determine (1) the background existence of the metal music communities in Bandung 1989-1994, (2) the existence of the metal music communities in Bandung 1995-2018, (3) the role of the metal music communities in Bandung in preserving the Sundanese cultural values. The results showed the formation of metal music communities in Bandung was initiated by the formation of three metal music groups in 1989 namely Funeral, Orthodox, and Jasad. In 1990 Funeral initiated the formation of the first metal music community in Bandung, namely the Bandung Death Brutality Area (Badebah). The process of maintaining the existence of the metal music communities in Bandung starts from the spirit of creation which results in music festivals, and compilation albums. In 2008, the existence of the metal music community in Bandung faltered due to the AACC Tragedy which made it difficult for metal bands to perform. The metal music communities in Bandung made it a difficult time to carry out international movements by performing abroad. The movement made an outcome through a program called Wacken Metal Battle Indonesia. The metal music communities in Bandung make their collaborate with Sundanese culture through metal music, which is called Sundanese Metal. The results of the Sundanese Metal movement are metal songs in the Sundanese language and traditional Sundanese art performances in metal band performances.
