<![CDATA[This research aims to present the analysis of Newspeak neologism translation in George Orwell’s Nineteen-Eighty Four, in terms of the types of neologism found, the translation techniques used, and the techniques’ impact to the translation quality. It is a descriptive qualitative research using total sampling, obtaining 118 data of new words and phrasal words. The data were then grouped into several types of neologism based on proposal by Newmark (1988) and analysed for its translation techniques, using proposal of translation techniques by Molina and Albir (2002). Then, data about translation quality was obtained by employing questionnaires to three raters of translation quality. Findings of this research show that of ten types of neologism proposed by Newmark (1988), seven were found to be embodied in the data collection. 17 translation techniques are employed by the translator in form of six singular translation techniques and eleven multiple translation techniques. Based on quality assessment, it was found that the average translation quality of these terms amounted to 2.37 points, a number signifying near-high translation quality. However, there are some special cases which points out the irregularities of this result and needs further reviewing and considerations.]]>
