Abstract

Cancer, which is a dangerous disease, it does not mean that it cannot be cured. For now, cancer treatment is done with chemotherapy, surgery and some of them with oral drugs, but they are expensive and have not been able to cure most cancer sufferers. Plants that are often used as traditional medicine are katuk plants. Katuk plant (Sauropus androgunus (L) Merr) has many benefits in everyday life such as facilitating breast milk, treating ulcers, ulcers and treating dirty blood. The aim of this study was to test the identification of cytotoxic Katuk (Sauropus androgunus (L) Merr) leaves against the inhibition of mitosis of sea urchins (Tripneustes gratilla Linn.). The results of the study showed that the level of inhibition of cell division of the methanol fraction of katuk leaves against the antimitotic test of sea urchin eggs (T. gratilla) with IC50 = 147μg/ml. The methanol fraction of 1 katuk leaf had a greater toxic effect on Artemia salina Leach, with LC50 value = 353μg/ml. The methanol fraction 1 of katuk leaves had cytotoxic activity against Hela cancer cells which was greater than fraction 2 with an IC50 value of 305.941 g/ml in fraction 1 and 711.954 g/ml in fraction 2.
