Abstract

Currently, children with diabetes mellitus (DM) has increased rapidly, 70 times (2010 – January 2023). WHO pays attention to reducing the intake of Packaged Sweetened Drinks (MBDK) to reduce the risk of obesity which is a determinant that can trigger degenerative diseases, such as DM. The aims of the research were 1) to analyze the effect of the intervention on students' knowledge and perceptions regarding the consumption of MBDK, and 2) to monitor and evaluate students' healthy behavior regularly as illustrated by the description of changes in weight and height. The research method uses a quantitative approach. The independent variable is in the form of program intervention consisting of 1) Health education through YouTube video media, 2) Mentoring activities, and 3) Measurement of BB and TB. Respondents were determined by purposive sampling technique by as many as 62 students of class VI. The dependent variable is knowledge and perceptions about MBDK. The instrument uses a questionnaire. Pre and post-intervention data were processed using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis (chi-square test). The research concluded: 1) There was an increase in students' knowledge and attitudes regarding MBDK consumption in the 2nd month. 2) The picture of healthy behavior of students as measured by weight and height was not yet apparent (91%) with constant weight, 3 people increased and 2 people decreased. 3) The mentoring process can run intensively only in the 2nd month due to the long holiday for students
