<![CDATA[This research aims to determine the meaning of the denotation and connotation of forms of verbal abuse against children as well as the meaning of the myth of verbal abuse against children in the film Benalu by Sidiq Aryadi. The data analysis technique used is semiotic analysis, namely, Roland Barthes' Semiotic Analysis, to reveal the meaning of connotative, denotative signs, and myt. Verbal abuse is "violence against feelings". Belittling or mocking children can take the form of demeaning the child, insulting names, making adverse treatment between children, stating that the child is not good, worthless, ugly or something that is obtained from mistakes. Oftentimes, parents are not aware that they have committed acts of verbal abuse. The primary and most common causal factor for parents committing verbal abuse is education. Many parents educate their children firmly and harshly, and without realizing it, verbal abuse can have a negative impact on children, even more significant than the impact of physical violence.]]>
