Abstract

Stock return is the profit obtained by investors for the capital invested in companies that issue shares. The existence of the covid-19 pandemic caused the economy in Indonesia to decline in 2020 according to BPS (Badan Pusat Statistik) data. This condition will affect company performance, fundamental factors, and company prospectuses (reports), and can change stock trading patterns that affect company stock returns. Seeing the fact that there is no certainty about the return to be obtained, it is important for investors to carry out an analysis before making an investment decision. The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical evidence regarding the influence of company fundamentals as seen from financial ratios proxied by the ratios ROA, ROE, DER, EPS, PER, and PBV on stock returns in LQ45 index companies during the covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. A sample of 40 companies with a year of observation for 2 years so that 80 observations were obtained. Data analysis technique using Multiple Linear Regression test. Based on the research results, ROA, ROE, DER, EPS, PER, and PBV have no effect on stock returns during the covid-19 pandemic. This provides additional empirical evidence that this study is not in accordance with signaling theory.
