ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL MANAGEMENT IN FORMING STUDENTS' INDEPENDENCE (STUDY AT AL-AMIN ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL, PURWAKARTA)

Abstract

This research aims to find out: the management of the Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School in forming the independence of its students, the efforts of the Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School in forming the independence of its students, and the obstacles faced by the Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School in forming the independence of its students. The research was conducted at the Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School, Purwakarta, for six months, from February to July 2023. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive method, meaning that the research intends to carry out an investigation by describing/describing the current state of the research object/subject based on visible facts or as they really are. Data collection was carried out by means of observation and interviews and supported by existing documents. The procedure for collecting data was carried out by interviewing the leadership of the Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School, the ustadz and ustdzah, students and parents. Data analysis was carried out by comparing each respondent's answer with the actual conditions observed. The research concluded that the role of the Al-Amin Islamic boarding school in forming the independence of students is very large, the feeling of independence for students since they take part in the selection for accepting new students, discipline of students in participating in various activities both at the boarding school and at school so as to produce graduates with various skills in accordance with the readiness and demands of society . The efforts made by the Al-amin Islamic Boarding School to shape the independence of its students are by instilling a sense of responsibility in the students, fostering an attitude of autonomy in the students, developing an attitude of initiative in the students and fostering an attitude of self-control in the students. The obstacles faced by the Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School in establishing the independence of its students include internal factors, namely inhibiting factors that come from the students themselves and external factors in the form of a lack of facilities/infrastructure to support students' activities, weak enforcement of student discipline due to there is still a lack of supervision by ustadz
