<![CDATA[The form of modernization of science through continuous Islamic education until now. One of the modern reformers in Indonesia is Nurcholish Madjid. He is a reformist Islamic figure who has experienced two educational cultures, namely Islamic and secular (Western) education culture, traditionalist and modernist. Nurcholish Madjid has made efforts to reform Islamic education, but the world of Islamic education is still faced with several problems. Nurcholish Madjid is of the view that a good education is what can form a liberal and critical human being, where he can become a free person. According to him, Islamic education systems and institutions will become weaker, not recognized or even disappear, if the education system only prioritizes moral aspects, does not develop science and technology. This shows that Nurcholish Madjid's thoughts on Islamic education must be renewed from its systems and institutions by consciously formulating the vision and goals of education to be more advanced and able to respond to the times]]>
