Abstract

ABSTRACT Regional Library of Yogyakarta City is located in the city which is predicated as an Indonesian Education City. The town is filled by students and therefore the people have a high academic information needs. In the era of information disclosure, as it is today, and in the middle of the high demand of user’s information needs, librarians are required to have information literacy skills. This study discusses librarian’s information literacy based on Empowering Eight models and the role of librarian's information literacy in fulfilling the user’s information needs in Yogyakarta City Regional Library by using descriptive method and qualitative approach. Sources of data in this study come from a textbook, online books, journals, previous research, interviews and observations. Technique of data analysis used by the author is the data reduction, presentation and conclusion. The results of this study show that librarian’s information literacy in Yogyakarta City Regional Library in accordance with the Empowering Eight model’s and the role of librarian’s information literacy in fulfilling the user’s information needs shows only two components namely, the identification and application.
