Currently, natural ingredients are developing to help the wound healing process due to tooth extraction, one of which is red dra-gon fruit skin (RDFS) or Hylocereus polyrhizus which is generally a waste. The RDFS contains tannins, flavonoids and saponins that have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits. This study was conducted to determine the effect of RDFS extract on the number of neutrophils after tooth extraction of Wistar rats. A total of 24 male rats were adapted and grouped into 2 groups (control and treatment), each having 3 subgroups, namely day 1, 3, and 5. The treatment stage in the control group was given 0.5% Na-CMC solution and the treatment group was given 7 mg/g BW of RDFS extract every day in the morning. Subjects were decapita-ted, tissue processed, and stained with HE according to the day group. It was found that the number of neutrophils in the treatment group (260.1667, 106.2778, 75.6667) was lower than the control group (299.4167, 134.8056, 117.4167) on days 1, 3, and 5. It is concluded that RDFS extract can have an effect in reducing the number of neutrophils after tooth extraction in male Wistar rats at a dose of 7 mg/g BW.
