Abstrak. Salah satu tanaman yang sering digunakan sebagai obat tradisional dalam pencegahan dan pengobat suatu penyakit yaitu tanaman keji beling (Strobilanthes crispa (L.) Blume). Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui karakterisasi simplisia dan apa saja metabolit sekunder yang terkandung pada simplisia maupun ekstrak daun keji beling (Strobilanthes crispa (L.) Blume). Metode karakterisasi meliputi penetapan kadar sari larut air, kadar sari larut etanol, kadar air, susut pengeringan, kadar abu total dan penetapan kadar abu tidak larut asam. Skrining fitokimia pada simplisia maupun ekstrak etanol daun keji beling dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif menngunakan pereaksi spesifik. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh hasil kadar sari larut air 6,86%, kadar sari larut etanol 17%, kadar abu total 17,75%, kadar abu tidak larut asam 3,35%, kadar air 9,5%, susut pengeringan 9,83% dan bobot jenis ekstrak 1,03 gr/mL. skrining fitokimia simplisia dan ekstrak menunjukkan bahwa daun keji beling mengandung senyawa golongan polifenol, flavonoid, kuinon dan tanin. One of the plants that is often used as traditional medicine in the prevention and treatment of a disease is the vile shard plant (Strobilanthes crispa (L.) Blume). The purpose of this study was to determine the characterization of simplicia and what secondary metabolites were contained in both simplicia and keji shard leaf extract (Strobilanthes crispa (L.) Blume). The characterization method includes determination of water soluble extract, ethanol soluble extract, moisture content, drying shrinkage, total ash content and determination of acid insoluble ash content. Phytochemical screening of simplicia and ethanol extract of keji shard leaves was carried out using a qualitative method using specific reagents. The results of this study showed that the water-soluble extract content was 6.86%, the ethanol-soluble extract content was 17%, the total ash content was 17.75%, the acid-insoluble ash content was 3.35%, the water content was 9.5%, the drying shrinkage was 9, 83% and the specific gravity of the extract is 1.03 gr/mL. Phytochemical screening of simplicia and extracts showed that keji shard leaves contain polyphenols, flavonoids, quinones and tannins. Keywords: Strobilanthes crispa (L.)
