Abstract

Kata Kunci: UV, Ekstrak Kulit Buah Manggis, α-mangostin, SPFABSTRACTContinuous exposure to UV rays can cause various skin problems. To overcome this, sunscreen preparations are made that can protect the skin from exposure to UV rays. However. Some sunscreens made from synthetic chemicals actually produce undesirable effects when applied to the skin, so natural sunscreens have been developed. Mangosteen peel is considered to be able to be developed into sunscreen because it contains α-mangostin which has been proven to have antioxidant activity and is able to reduce free radicals, inhibit hydrogen peroxide, and is also able to ward off UVA and UVB. In this review article, we will discuss the results of Sun Protection Factor (SPF) values from previous studies regarding mangosteen rind extract. Keywords: UV, Mangosteen Peel Extract, α-mangostin, SPF
