Penggunaan Teka Teki Silang dalam Meningkatkan Motivasi dan Hasil Belajar Biologi pada Peserta Didik Kelas 9 Sekolah Menengah Pertama di Kabupaten Landak

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the use of crossword puzzles (CP) in increasing motivation and biology learning outcomes in grade 7 students at one of the junior high schools (SMP) in Landak Regency. This research was classroom action research (CAR) with is the Kemmis and McTaggart’s model which included planning, action, observation and reflection activities. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and tests. Questionnaires were given to assess CP of natural science that were developed to increase motivation, while tests were given to determine abilities before and after learning. The results of the research showed: 1) the use of developed TTS in science learning could increase students’ motivation and learning outcomes. The results of the research show that there was an improvement in the percentage increase from cycle I to cycle II. Moreover, the students paid attention to the teacher increased by 19%, the students’ enthusiasm enhanced by 13.5%, students asking questions increased by 16%, students answering the teacher's questions. experienced an increase of 27%, students giving their opinions increased by 13.5%, collaboration between students also increased by 8%, notes also experienced an increase of 5.4%, interest and seriousness in paying attention to TTS did not change from cycle I to cycle II, namely 100%. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan teka-teki silang dalam meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar biologi pada peserta didik kelas 7 di salah satu sekolah menengah pertama (SMP) di Kabupaten Landak. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Desain atau model yang digunakan dalam PTK ini adalah model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang meliputi kegiatan perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan angket dan tes. Angket diberikan untuk menilai teka teki silang (TTS) IPA yang dikembangkan dapat meningkatkan motivasi, sedangkan tes diberikan untuk mengetahui kemampuan sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian adalah: 1) penggunaan TTS pada pembelajaran IPA yang dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan persentase kenaikan dari siklus I ke siklus II di atas tampak bahwa peserta didik yang memperhatikan guru meningkat 19%, antusiasme peserta didik meningkat 13,5%, peserta didik mengajukan pertanyaan mengalami peningkatan 16%, peserta didik menjawab pertanyaan guru mengalami peningkatan 27%, peserta didik memberikan pendapatnya mengalami peningkatan sebesar 13,5%, kerjasama antar peserta didik juga mengalami peningkatan sebasar 8%, mencatat juga mengalami peningkatan 5,4%, tertarik dan serius dalam memperhatikan TTS tidak mengalami perubahan dari siklus I ke siklus II yaitu 100%.
