Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of a combination of straw compost and chicken manure on the availability of N, P, K nutrients and the growth of sweet corn (Zea mays L.) plants in peat soil. The research was carried out at the experimental garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Tanjungpura University. The research took the form of a field experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) pattern consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications, so the total number of treatments was 25 plants. The treatments referred to are: P1: 40 tonnes/ha of rice straw compost (900 g/polybag), P2: 40 tonnes/ha of chicken manure (900 g/polybag), P3: 20 tonnes/ha of rice straw compost + 20 tonnes/ha chicken manure (450 g/polybag + 450 g/polybag), P4: 30 tons/ha rice straw compost + 10 tons/ha chicken manure (600 g/polybag + 300 g/polyag), P5: 10 tons/ha rice straw compost + 30 tons/ha chicken manure (300 g/polybag + 600 g/polybag). Statistical analysis used one-way Anova and DMRT follow-up test. Parameters of soil chemical properties include soil N-total, soil available P, soil K-dd and soil pH. Growth parameters include plant height and stem diameter. The research results showed that the use of chicken manure alone and a combination of chicken manure and rice straw compost could increase P-available, plant height and stem diameter of sweet corn plants in peat soil. The use of rice straw compost alone and a combination of rice straw compost and chicken manure can increase soil pH and soil K-DD. Providing a combination of rice straw compost and chicken manure can increase N-Total, P-Available, Soil K-DD, plant height and stem diameter of sweet corn plants. Key words: manure, peat soil, soil fertility, straw compost, sweet cornINTISARIPenelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kombinasi kompos jerami dan pupuk kandang ayam terhadap ketersediaan hara N, P, K serta pertumbuhan tanaman jagung manis (Zea mays L.) di tanah gambut. Perlakuan dimaksud adalah :P1: 40 ton/ha kompos jerami padi (900 g/ polybag), P2: 40 ton/ha pupuk kandang ayam (900 g/ polybag), P3: 20 ton/ha kompos jerami padi + 20 ton/ha pupuk kandang ayam (450 g/ polybag + 450 g/polybag), P4: 30 ton/ha kompos jerami padi + 10 ton/ha pupuk kandang ayam  (600 g/ polybag  +  300 g/polyag), P5: 10 ton/ha kompos jerami padi + 30 ton/ha pupuk kandang ayam (300 g/ polybag  +  600 g/polybag).
