Abstract

The displaccment of one fluid by anolhcr is con-trolled by the geometry of the pore space. The relativehydrodynamic conductance of each fluid at a givcn satu-ration is the relative permeability, while the pressure dif-ference between the phascs is the capillary pressure. These two functions determine the macroscopic fluidtlow behavior in hydrocarbon reservoir over the scaleof centimeters to kilometers.
