Abstract

An oil field on the island of Sumatra in Indonesiahas excess water production problem. Its water-cuts aregreater than 90 %. Excess water production is not onlylinked to poor sweep efficiency, but also causes manyproblems in oil industry, such as scaling, corrosion, costof oil water treatment and cost of water disposal, and ineffective hydrocarbon mobility.
