Abstract

This research delves into the role of Islamic Education teachers in the process of forming students' characters at MI Negeri 2 Probolinggo. The research methodology involves classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and the analysis of documents related to the Islamic Education curriculum. The results indicate that Islamic Education teachers at MI Negeri 2 Probolinggo implement various strategies, including the use of interactive teaching methods, personalized approaches, and the instillation of moral values and Islamic ethics in daily life. Teachers are actively involved in guiding students, providing positive role models, and addressing character issues through pedagogical approaches. The effectiveness of the role of Islamic Education teachers is evident in the increased moral awareness of students and the cultivation of values such as honesty, discipline, and empathy. However, challenges such as limited learning time and the diversity of students' backgrounds influence the optimal implementation of the teacher's role. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the significant role of Islamic Education teachers in shaping the characters of MI students. The implications of this research provide a foundation for the development of educational policies that better support the role of teachers and a clearer understanding of achieving character formation goals in the context of Islamic Education at the elementary level.
