Kompres Bawang Merah (Allium ascalonicum L.) untuk Meningkatkan Suhu Tubuh Ibu Nifas dan Menyusui dengan Pembengkakan Payudara

Breast engorgement due to narrowing of the lactiferous ducts, lack of breast milk production can cause fever and pain. Prompt treatment is essential to prevent mastitis, abscess, or sepsis. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of onion compresses (Allium ascalonicum L.) to reduce body temperature of postpartum and breastfeeding mothers with breast engorgement. This study is an experimental study with a one-group pretest and posttest design. The number of respondents involved was 30 postpartum and breastfeeding mothers, selected using a purposive sampling technique. All respondents received onion compresses for 15–30 minutes. As an effect, axillary temperature measurements were taken in the pre- and post-treatment phases. The difference in temperature between before and after treatment was compared using the Mc. Nemar test. The results of the analysis showed that in the pretest phase, the temperature of all respondents was 36.5°C-36.9°C; while in the posttest phase, 53.4% of respondents experienced an increase in body temperature to 37°C-37.5°C. The results of the hypothesis test showed a p value = 0.000, so it could be interpreted that there was a difference in body temperature between before and after treatment. Based on these results, it could be concluded that red onion compresses are effective in increasing the body temperature of postpartum mothers with breast swelling.Keywords: body temperature; red onion compress; breast swelling ABSTRAK Pembengkakan payudara akibat penyempitan saluran laktiferus kurangnya produksi airsusu ibu dapat mengakibatkan demam dan nyeri. Penanganan yang cepat sangat penting untuk mencegah mastitis, abses, atau sepsis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektifitas kompres bawang merah (Allium ascalonicum L.) untuk menurunkan suhu tubuh ibu nifas dan menyusui dengan pembengkakan payudara. Studi ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan one group pretest and posttest. Jumlah responden yang terlibat adalah 30 ibu nifas dan menyusui, yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Seluruh responden menerima kompres bawang merah selama 15–30 menit. Sebagai efek, dilakukan pengukuran suhu aksilar pada fase sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Perbedaan suhu antara sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan dibandingkan dengan uji Mc. Nemar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pada fase pretest, suhu seluruh responden adalah 36,5°C-36,9°C; sementara itu pada fase posttest, 53,4% responden mengalami peningkatan suhu tubuh menjadi 37°C-37,5°C. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai p = 0,000, sehingga dapat ditafsirkan bahwa ada perbedaan suhu tubuh antara sebelum dan sesudah perlakua. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa kompres bawang merah efektif untuk meningkatkan suhu tubuh ibu nifas dengan pembengkakan payudara.Kata kunci: suhu tubuh; kompres bawang merah; pembengkakan payudara
