To determine the description and prevalence of facial asymmetry and to determine the possible etiology of facial asymmetry in pre-clinical students of the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University. This descriptive observational study, sampling was done by stratified random sampling method by taking extraoral photographs and giving questionnaires to respondents. The results show-ed the prevalence of facial asymmetry in the preclinical students was 70.59%, mostly found in female (54.9%). The most com-mon type of asymmetry was zygomatic asymmetry, with the most likely etiology being factors during development. It is concluded that the prevalence of facial asymmetry is quite large in a community or region with various types of asymmetry experienced which can be caused by several etiological factors.
