<![CDATA[Big data is a future research field that is attracting a lot of interest from academics and the IT community. The amount of data produced and stored in the digital world has increased dramatically in a short period. As a result, the exponential growth of data has generated various challenges. There are different scholars and researchers who have provided different definitions of big data. This paper aims to provide a wider definition of big data that captures its other distinctive characteristics. The main focus of the researcher is on the batch processing technologies as well as stream data processing technologies.The strengths as well as weaknesses and other details related to these technologies and the actual studies and the most interested areas of Big Data are the main part of this paper. Furthermore, the future of Big Data is evaluated in Jordan. In the Conclusion part, an overall evaluation is made and potential troubles are noted.]]>
