<![CDATA[The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the impact of the quantity and type of evidence on the charges filed in narcotics abuse cases within the jurisdiction of the Jambi District Court. The central issue addressed in this research is: “To what extent do the quantity and type of evidence influence the charges in narcotics abuse cases within the jurisdiction of the Jambi District Court?” This research employs a juridical-empirical approach and is both descriptive and analytical. It aims to describe the influence of the quantity and type of evidence on criminal charges while analyzing the relationship between the two. The data utilized in this study comprises primary and secondary sources. Data collection methods include document analysis, interviews, and observations. Interviews conducted with the Jambi High Prosecutor's Office revealed that the quantity and type of evidence in narcotics-related offenses significantly affect the criminal charges brought by the Public Prosecutor. These charges are also influenced by subjective considerations, including the prosecutor's personal judgment, attitudes, and perceptions of the defendant during court proceedings, which take into account the defendant's psychological and sociological conditions. Consequently, the approach taken by one prosecutor may differ from that of another. Furthermore, both aggravating and mitigating factors also contribute to the determination of the criminal charges imposed by the Public Prosecutor.]]>
