The recent phenomenon of increased attention to character education is interesting to study from political, bureaucratic and academic perspectives. Academically, character education provides new inspiration for educational scientists in Indonesia to comprehensively examine and study related concepts and theories. This study aims to understand the meaning of character education and its relationship with Muslim personality formation. The method used in this research is Library Research, with primary data sources in the form of the book “Islamic Education Philosophy Towards Character Building” by Prof. Dr. H. Maragustam Siregar, M.A., as well as secondary sources from other supporting books. This research uses inductive and deductive analysis techniques. The results show that character education can form a Muslim personality, because the core values of character education have similarities with the values desired by Islam. This finding confirms the importance of character education in the context of personality formation that is in line with Islamic teachings.
