This research aims to determine the critical thinking ability of students in solving story problems on the topic of linear equations in one variable in class VII B of SMPK Santo Paulus Karuni. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, which aims to describe and analyze students' abilities in depth through data collected in the form of words and narratives. The subjects of the study are students of class VII B, while the object of the research is the students' critical thinking ability in solving math story problems. Data collection techniques include written tests to measure critical thinking abilities, interviews to delve deeper into the reasons and thought processes of students when solving problems, and documentation as supporting data. Data analysis techniques are carried out through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results indicate that students' critical thinking abilities vary. As many as 16 students demonstrated high critical thinking skills, students with moderate abilities were able to meet evaluation indicators, and students with low abilities only met analysis indicators. These findings show that the critical thinking abilities of students at SMPK Santo Paulus Karuni are still diverse and need improvement, especially in the aspects of analysis and logical reasoning in solving contextual problems.
