Abstrak The background of this research is that there is a tendency for high consumptive behavior shown by some students when interacting in social environments and digital media. Teachers and school counselors face challenges in helping students manage excessive consumption impulses. Therefore, the researcher and Guidance and Counseling teachers took the initiative to develop counseling services using the Gestalt approach, so that students can improve self- awareness and control consumptive behavior. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Kota Serang over a one-month period during the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the Gestalt approach in terms of students' consumptive behavior before and after the application of the Gestalt approach in guidance services at SMAN 2 Kota Serang. The research method used is quantitative research with a correlational design. The subjects of this study consisted of 240 tenth-grade students selected using random sampling techniques. The research instrument used a Likert scale questionnaire, and data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of data analysis showed a correlation coefficient of 0.851 with a significance level of 0.000. Thus, the results of this study indicate that the application of the Gestalt approach is effective, as there is a very significant relationship between the effectiveness of the Gestalt approach and the reduction of consumptive behavior among tenth-grade students at SMAN 2 Kota Serang.
