<![CDATA[This paper discusses in detail the development of tafsir during the era of the Prophet's companions. The era of the companions is considered the second best period after the era of the Prophet Muhammad, as stated in the hadith of the Prophet: "The best of times is my time, then the time of thos e who come after me (meaning the time of my companions)." Therefore, the author attempts to investigate the extent of the development of tafsir during the era of the Prophet's companions. Given the development of Islam, it is certain that the era of the companions witnessed a more extensive and advanced development. The research method employed is a literature review. The research findings indicate that the methods used by the Prophet's companions in interpreting the Quran were as follows: first, interpreting the Quran with the Quran itself; second, interpreting the Quran with the hadith of the Prophet; and third, interpreting the Quran through independent reasoning (ijtihad).]]>
