This Classroom Action Research (CAR) examines the application of the inquiry method to improve the learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education students of class XI A of SMK Tutwuri Handayani Makassar. This study involved 35 students and lasted for two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation, analyzed using the percentage and average (mean) formulas. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' reading ability after the application of the inquiry method. In the pre-cycle, the average student score was 48 (less category) with a completion percentage of only 34.28%. After cycle I, the average score increased to 70.28 (good category) with a completion percentage reaching 68.57%. The increase continued in cycle II, with an average score of 84.57 (very good category) and a completion percentage of 85.71%. These findings indicate that the inquiry method is effective in improving the learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education, especially the reading ability of class XI students of SMK Tutwuri Handayani Makassar. Further research could be conducted to examine the sustainability of these improvements and the applicability of this method to other subjects.
