This study aims to determine the effect of using crossword puzzle media on improving the competence of fourth grade students in elementary schools. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The research sample includes two classes, namely the experimental class that uses crossword puzzle media and the control class that applies conventional learning methods. Data collection was carried out through competency tests given before and after treatment. The results of the analysis showed a significant difference in the achievement of learning outcomes between the two classes, where the experimental class showed better improvement. These findings indicate that crossword puzzle media has a positive effect on improving student competence, so it is recommended to be used as an alternative innovative learning media at the elementary school level.
