The study involved scrutinizing the film's plot, followed by an analysis of the cultural values embedded in "Barakati." This analysis aimed to uncover the enduring cultural traits in the Buton Island and Yogyakarta regions. Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotic Analysis was the chosen method for dissecting the cultural values depicted in the film. Peirce categorized signs into three types: icons, indices, and symbols.
