Abstract

The resilience of Rural Banks (BPR) during the monetary crisis contrasts with persistent managerial weaknesses and information asymmetry among stakeholders due to confidential bank ratings. This study aims to identify the most dominant financial factor determining the health level of BPRs. Analyzing 55 BPRs in Bank Indonesia Jember’s working area for 2001-2002 using a census method, multiple regression with beta coefficients was applied to assess variables including CAR, KAP, PPAP/PPAPWD, ROA, BOPO, QR, and LDR. The findings reveal that the KAP (Quality of Productive Assets) variable exerts the most dominant influence, with a beta coefficient of -0.577, followed by ROA and BOPO. The regression model explains 31.7% of the variability in BPR health levels. This study concludes that KAP is the primary determinant, supporting BI's high weighting for this ratio, while recommending that managers also consider other significant factors like ROA and BOPO.
