Abstract

This study explores the lived experiences of family caregivers in managing medication adherence for individuals with mental illness at home. Medication adherence is a critical component in the management of mental health conditions, yet caregivers often face significant challenges in ensuring compliance. Through qualitative in-depth interviews with family caregivers of individuals diagnosed with mental illness, this research examines their personal experiences, struggles, and coping strategies in fostering medication adherence. The findings reveal that caregivers experience emotional, physical, and psychological burdens, often feeling overwhelmed by the responsibility of managing treatment regimens. Despite these challenges, many caregivers demonstrate resilience and develop adaptive strategies to support their loved ones. The study highlights the need for more targeted interventions and support systems to alleviate caregiver stress and improve medication adherence. By understanding the caregiver's perspective, healthcare professionals can better tailor interventions to enhance adherence and overall mental health outcomes.
