Cocoa is a major crop in the plantation sector that has a very important role in thenational economy, especially as a major contributor to the country's income and foreignexchange. The objective of this study is to identify cocoa potential and cocoa supply chainin South Sulawesi. Descriptive research method was conducted using survey method.Based on the research results, (1) South Sulawesi is the largest contributor to cocoaproduction in Indonesia, providing 23.14 percent of national cocoa production andcovering an area of 217 thousand hectares. (2) The cocoa supply chain consists offarmers, collectors, distributors, and industry. (3) Risks in the cocoa supply chaininclude: (a) Price: Due to lack of access to specific information on cocoa prices, tradersset prices unilaterally. (b) Pest threats including cocoa blight, stem cancer, and aphids.(c) Seasonal Risks: The rainy season can also cause fungal diseases on the stems thatdamage cocoa pods. (d) Human Resource Risk: Community awareness on how to managecocoa properly and turn it into a good cocoa crop is low.
