<![CDATA[This study aims to determine the effect of training and competency development on the improvement of competencies among Papuan students in the YPMAK – Binterbusih Scholarship Program. The research is based on the importance of training and development in preparing high–quality and competitive human resources from Papua. A quantitative research method with a survey approach was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to recipients of the YPMAK – Binterbusih scholarship. The results of the analysis indicate that the training variable has a positive and significant effect on student competency improvement, with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). Likewise, the competency development variable also shows a significant influence with the same level of significance. Simultaneously, the two independent variables contribute 79.3% to the improvement of student competencies, while the remaining 20.7% is influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this study. These findings emphasize that systematically and relevantly designed training and development programs can enhance both the academic and non-academic capabilities of Papuan students. Therefore, it is recommended that YPMAK continue to enhance structured and sustainable training programs to develop a generation of Papuans who are competent and ready to compete at national and global levels.]]>
