Abstract

ABSTRACT Character education is an important aspect in shaping a generation of students with integrity, but its implementation in elementary schools has not been fully optimized. This study aims to systematically review the literature related to local culture-based education as a strategy for strengthening the character of elementary school students in Indonesia. This research uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach with PRISMA guidelines, selecting 25 relevant scientific articles from various regions in Indonesia. The results of the study show that the integration of local cultural values in learning can shape student character, including responsibility, mutual cooperation, religiosity, and cultural pride. Effective integration strategies include thematic and contextual approaches, as well as culture-based extracurricular activities. However, the main challenges include limitations in teacher competence, contextual learning resources, and policy support. These findings emphasize the importance of local culture-based education as a foundation for character building, the development of the Pancasila Student Profile and 21st-century learning, and as a basis for sustainable education policies and practices. ABSTRAK Pendidikan karakter merupakan aspek penting dalam membentuk generasi siswa yang berintegritas, namun implementasinya di sekolah dasar belum sepenuhnya optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan tinjauan sistematis terhadap literatur yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan berbasis budaya lokal sebagai strategi untuk memperkuat karakter siswa sekolah dasar di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Tinjauan Literatur Sistematis (SLR) dengan pedoman PRISMA, dengan memilih 25 artikel ilmiah relevan dari berbagai wilayah di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi nilai-nilai budaya lokal dalam pembelajaran dapat membentuk karakter siswa, termasuk tanggung jawab, kerja sama, keagamaan, dan kebanggaan budaya. Strategi integrasi yang efektif meliputi pendekatan tematik dan kontekstual, serta kegiatan ekstrakurikuler berbasis budaya. Namun, tantangan utama meliputi keterbatasan kompetensi guru, sumber daya pembelajaran kontekstual, dan dukungan kebijakan. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya pendidikan berbasis budaya lokal sebagai landasan pembentukan karakter, pengembangan Profil Siswa Pancasila dan pembelajaran abad ke-21, serta sebagai dasar kebijakan dan praktik pendidikan yang berkelanjutan.
