<![CDATA[Industrial activities located near residential areas often generate both economic benefits and environmental challenges for surrounding communities. This study aims to explore the perspectives and attitudes of residents living in Wiyoro Kidul, Banguntapan, Bantul, toward the presence of nearby large-scale and domestic industries. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through purposive sampling involving two groups of respondents: residents who operate or work in local industries and those who do not. Data were obtained through interviews and field observations to understand the perceived environmental, social, and economic impacts. The results show that industries contribute positively by increasing employment opportunities and supporting local economic growth. However, residents also reported significant negative impacts, including air pollution, noise disturbances, unpleasant odors from waste processing activities, and water contamination caused by industrial and home-industry effluents such as tempe wastewater. These environmental pressures have shaped diverse community perceptions, ranging from acceptance due to economic dependence to concerns over long-term environmental and health risks. Overall, community attitudes tend to be adaptive, with residents willing to accept industrial presence as long as companies demonstrate responsibility by implementing proper pollution control, improving operational management, and maintaining good communication with the community.]]>
