Abstract

This study aims to develop procedural text learning materials supported by interactive PowerPoint media using the Genially application for Grade IX students at SMP Negeri 35 Medan. The research was motivated by findings that the textbook used by students still contains several shortcomings, particularly in terms of relevance, consistency, and adequacy of the material in relation to the Learning Outcomes (CP) and Learning Objectives (TP) of the Merdeka Curriculum. These limitations include the absence of systematic explanations of procedural text structure, minimal discussion of linguistic features, lack of step-by-step writing guidance, and visual presentations that remain monotonous and less engaging for students. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants consisted of a Bahasa Indonesia teacher and five Grade IX students. The findings indicate that the textbook does not fully support effective learning, both in terms of content completeness, clarity of presentation, and opportunities for students to practice procedural text writing skills. Based on these findings, the researchers developed more comprehensive and structured learning materials aligned with CP and TP, and presented them through an interactive PowerPoint enriched with Genially features. The resulting product, consisting of a revised student textbook and an interactive presentation, was found to be more engaging, easier to understand, and capable of increasing student participation during the learning process. This research highlights the importance of utilizing interactive media as an effective solution to improve the quality of Indonesian language learning, particularly in understanding and producing procedural texts.
