This study aims to describe the principal's leadership style, teacher performance, and the influence of the principal's leadership style on teacher performance in the context of culture and education system at the Darul Hikmah TPI Modern Islamic Boarding School, Medan. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with one principal and two Madrasah Aliyah teachers as research subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and its validity was tested through triangulation techniques. The results of the study indicate that the principal's leadership style tends to be democratic and participatory with communicative, religious, exemplary, and adaptive characteristics to the modern Islamic boarding school culture. Teacher performance in carrying out professional duties is classified as good, characterized by the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate learning systematically and carry out moral and character development of students. The principal's leadership style has a positive effect on teacher performance, especially in increasing work motivation, discipline, responsibility, and commitment of teachers in carrying out their professional duties in accordance with the values of Islamic boarding school education. This research is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic educational leadership and the improvement of teacher performance in modern Islamic boarding schools (pesantren).
