Community empowerment starts from efforts to define the community as its object. This is important because actually empowerment is not for the wider community, but the real object is the community in the form of a community, including the local community in Minangkabau. The people as local communities in Minangkabau can still fulfill all their social needs in the midst of shifting values caused by modernization. This article aims to answer the question of how to model community-based community empowerment as a local community in Minangkabau? Efforts to generalize from the cases in Nagari Tabek Patah have made five (5) Kaum as the locus of study. This qualitative data is then analyzed together with the theory. There are four stages of community-based community empowerment as the findings of this study, namely; the stage is tahu di nan ampek, sauak aie mandikan diri, karajo nan ba pokok, and ingek jo jago. This stage becomes a system of community empowerment models.
